And now for our English Firends:
I wish all my readers, and naturally those, who want to become so, a Happy New Year!
Because I finished my entry for the Behind Omaha painting contest, I decidet to show the miniaturewith which I wanted to win this contest first.
Hope you'll like him !

[Field of Glory] Santa's Tournament 2019 - Game 3

After a short night that followed the evening before, we met at the venue in the morning around 9:00 and I was bound to meet Frank with his List of Early Successor. These were the first succeeding kingdoms after the death of Alexander the Great in 323 BC, which fought over supremacy of the territories once controlled by him. Some of the armies of the succeeding kingdoms have unique army lists, such as mine which is depicting the Seleucid kingdom from 206 BC onward. Frank's list is to be found in the army-list companion "Immortal Fire" and dated 92 BC. So, to be honest, his early successors are not that "early". Frank's Early Successors were composed of: 4 Troop-Commanders, who lead:  Javelinman : Light Foot, Javelin-Light Spear, Average, Unprotected, Undrilled, 6 Bases Thracian Cavalry : Cavalry, Light-Spear/Swordsman, Superior, Armored, Undrilled, 4 Bases Greek Hoplites : Heavy Foot, Offensive Spearman, Average, Protected, Drilled, 6 Bases Pha...

[Field of Glory] Santa's Tournament 2019 - Intro; Game 1 and 2

it's a draw, it's a draw, it's a draw As I started writing the entry, this year's Santa Tournament in Berlin came to an end just a few hours ago. Thus, and as the unofficial Field of Glory website in Germany is currently shut down and many old forums such as the tiny-soldiers dead, too, I decided to write some small reports on my battles and post the results here. Sadly I made that decision just after the first battle was over, and as there is no documentation of it, there won't be a report either. So you may or may not enjoy only 3 out of 4 of my struggles with dice, moral and alcohol. The tournament's secret motto and running gag was "it's a draw, it's a draw, it's a draw!". We shall get to that later. Ferdi organized the tournament and provided some space to sleep in his Berlin home close to the venue for our guests from abroad. He limited the armies allowed to 400 BC to 600 AD, without any Asian or American Lists. Thus a l...

[Tutrorial] Macedonian Phalanx Part 2

So let's continue with Step number 7. Which is the highlight of the leather armour, made with Vallejo MC 70.951 White. I used a mix of accurate painting and drybrush as my coulour dries quite fast. 8. Now highlighting the red with Vallejo 70.957 Flat Red and the gold/brass with the original Old Gold. 9. After that, we get started with the flesh - I am using as middle tone the Andrea Colour AC-52, which I like espacially for ist verry dull result. 10. The second flesh I am using is Foundrys 127C from the expert flesh set.  11. So what is there still to do? Painting the back of the shields in Vallejo 70.872 Choclate Brown and highlighting the green - to do this I mix the green basecoat, Vallejo MC 70.980 Black Green with approx. 1/4 of Vallejo GC 72.034 Bonewhite. This creates a nice and warm lighter green. 12. Last, but not least the decals are set to place. THose are supplied by Little Big Men Studios. To give them a proper fit I cut once untill nea...
